About the Clinic
Alternaleaf is one of the largest private cannabis clinics, servicing patients UK-wide. The expansive team of experienced healthcare professionals working with Alternaleaf offer patients in-depth knowledge and understanding of medical cannabis’s therapeutic benefits and a compassionate, patient, and understanding approach. They work closely with patients to ensure that the treatment options offered are customised to their unique health needs. Their approach to patient care is centred around a holistic view of health, recognising the interconnectedness of physical and mental well-being.
While some UK medical cannabis clinics focus on one specific aspect of treatment, Alternaleaf takes a more comprehensive approach. The team works collaboratively to address all aspects of health and well-being, offering patients suffering from a wide range of conditions the best possible care. With regular follow-ups, transparent and affordable pricing, and a commitment to evidence-based medicine, Alternaleaf strives to provide patients with the highest quality of care.
Alternaleaf is committed to serving those who have served our country. By partnering with veterans’ charities Blue Light and Defence Discount Card, they offer discounted treatment options for UK military veterans, and their families.
All Atlernaleaf consultations are offered through their online portal, allowing patients to access the care they need from the comfort of their own homes, and without the worry of long waiting times or travel expenses.
Sign Up Process
Alternaleaf’s signup process is quite well laid out and easy to work through, although the number of clicks that need to be made to reach the end of the process is a little more than some of the other top UK medical cannabis clinics.
You will first be asked to answer a series of medical history related questions, then be asked to provide a copy of your SCR (medical records) if you have them available, and if everything is in order, you will be told whether you are eligible or ineligible to continue. If you are eligible for an initial consult with Alternaleaf, you will then be required to answer a few questions relating to your personal details (including your name, phone number, date of birth, address, etc.).
Once this is done, you will be prompted to book one of the available consult slots, and that’s it, all done.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a medical cannabis prescription, patients must have first tried two licenced medicines, treatments or therapies for their condition, as prescribed by a GP or healthcare professional.

Clinic FAQs
First opening its doors in Australia in 2017, Alternaleaf medical cannabis clinic expanded its reach to the UK in September 2023. It is seen as being one of the larger medical cannabis providers in the UK and Australia.
They sure do, with the exception of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
In the UK, Alternaleaf is a subsidiary of Montu, with Asif Dewan serving as the current Managing Director. In Australia, Christopher Lee Strauch is the Managing Director of Alternaleaf Pty Ltd.
Alternaleaf UK offers patients access to a range of cannabis-based treatment options, including medical cannabis flower and oil formulations, through a prescription only service. Alternaleaf patients also have access to a variety of additional products that support medical cannabis administration.
While Alternaleaf does not publically disclose all of the international medical cannabis suppliers that it currently sources both medical cannabis flower and oil formulations through, it is common for UK medical cannabis clinics to work with suppliers from Canada, Spain, Portugal, Australia, and even here in the UK.
That is very much dependent on the number of consultations needed and the amount of medical cannabis being prescribed, but as a loose guide:
- Initial Consultation: £49 (one-time fee)
- For Low-Dose Patients: Approximately £80 to £150 per month (including consultation and medication costs)
- For Higher-Dose Patients: This can range up to £300 plus per month, depending on individual prescription needs.
If you would like to sign up with Alternaleaf for medical cannabis treatment, the first step is to head to their website and complete a short medical questionnaire. Once completed, and if you are found to be eligible for treatment, you will be invited to set up an online account where you can upload your SCR (medical documents) and book in for an appointment. Alternatively, you can call the clinic for a more detailed breakdown of the process.
That depends on a few factors, like your location, the type of product ordered and how much is needed to manage your symptoms. Once a prescription is issued and paid for by the patient, the medication is dispatched by the pharmacy through Royal Mail, Guaranteed Next Day Tracked delivery. Expect to have your prescription delivered within 3 to 5 working days.
User Reviews
Things started off well when I first joined Alternaleaf, but over the past couple months it’s really gone downhill. I’ve had issues with missing scripts, long delays, and even once got the completely wrong meds prescribed. That was a bit scary to be honest.
The customer service team are nice on the phone, they do listen, but nothing really gets sorted. I’ve found myself chasing things up constantly and getting nowhere. It feels like no one’s actually taking ownership.
The site itself is fine, easy enough to use. But as soon as you try to order from a pharmacy that isn’t Montu, it becomes a mess. Montu is part of Alternaleaf I think, so they probly just want you to stay within their system. Outside of that, everything slows down or gets lost.
Bit all over the place. People are friendly but there’s no follow through I’ve gone weeks without proper updates and still had no idea what’s happening with my meds.
Can’t complain too much here, billing’s been pretty clear. But when you’re paying for an appoinment and end up with the wrong meds or no meds at all, it does start to feel like a waste of time and money.
Waited two weeks last time and still no medication. It’s not just the wait either, it’s the lack of any kind of update or accountability. I rely on this treatment, and being without it really messed things up for me.
Honestly, once something goes wrong, you’re on your own.
No issues with privacy that I’ve noticed, but I do wonder if they actually report mistakes like they’re supposed to. Doesn’t feel like it. I might actually follow that up because it’s not right.
Staff ignore phones and emails prescribe outof stock items and breach gdpr. Regularly leaving me with only 50g of a 90g prescription leading to weeks with no medication
Very unresponsiveto emails or calls. When finally connected you willbe spoken down to, gaslit, and plain lied to. They will offer rewrites for out of stock items then ignore you for weeks without actioning the accepted rewrite. Absolute shoddy service. Clear they dont care about me or my health. Just interested in the nearly 1000 pounds a month they scam off me for only a small amount of meds.
Everything requires emailing or calling the staff and they never respond so getting anything done is impossible. Even when using the website as you should.
Incompetent here. You will get emails ignored and never responded to. Phone calls where your left on hold for an hour before they cut your call without acknowledging you.
Nearly a week since prescription was written. Still dont have a payment link.
Waiting times for an appointment are well over 3 weeks and they reccomend booking your appointment a week in advance…. Maths doesnt add up does it. What about the 2 weeks your left without? Its no mither to them that your left unmedicated, AGAIN.
Takes over two weeks to get repeats actioned. Staff dont seem to know what has already been said/offered
They have sent my information to another patient before. (Gdpr breach)
The pharmacist is really nice, shame about the turnaround times on receiving my medication.

Shockingly bad.
Called the clinic 30 times today regarding my prescription, no answer.

Too inconsistent, will be looking for an alternative clinic.
